The OpenAI debacle has illustrated that building next-generation AI systems is testing whether centralized governance structures can balance the dueling aspirations of “making money” and “acting in the best interests of humanity.”
As the pace of innovation continues to accelerate, the need for furthering the collective dialogue on responsible development and proper oversight of frontier technologies will grow ever more tangible.
We are actively contributing to this dialogue through our research and development initiatives. Our latest research shows that LLMs can predict human ethical judgments when tested against the ETHICS dataset. While this does not make them 'ethical agents,' it suggests that they can inform the ethical decision-making of AGI systems, opening up new possibilities for developing ethical AI.
Together, we can shape a future where AGI reflects our values and materially transforms what it means to be human in a positive way.
